Referral pathways for trauma, anxiety, emotional distress and repeating relational patterns​

Nicole Dickmann is a Master’s-trained and PACFA-registered psychotherapist and counsellor who provides trauma-informed, depth-oriented psychotherapy and counselling for clients experiencing persistent emotional, relational and trauma-related difficulties.
​
The work focuses on helping clients understand and shift the patterns that continue to affect how they feel, cope, relate and function in everyday life.

When to Refer

Childhood or adult trauma, abuse, neglect or family violence

Relational or developmental trauma

Hypervigilance, shutdown or difficulty feeling safe

Persistent distress following frightening or overwhelming experiences

Ongoing patterns linked to earlier experiences

Therapeutic focus:
Regulation and stabilisation, somatic and parts-based trauma work, and integrating experiences that continue to shape the present.
Anxiety, overwhelm & emotional regulation
When distress is beginning to shape everyday life​

Persistent anxiety, worry or overthinking

Emotional overwhelm or difficulty regulating emotions

Avoidance, shutdown or feeling constantly “on”

Perfectionism or excessive self-monitoring

ADHD-related emotional overwhelm or rejection sensitivity
Therapeutic focus:
Process-oriented and somatic psychotherapy, exploring both the immediate experience of anxiety and what may be sustaining it underneath.
Relationships, self-worth & coping patterns
When the same difficulties keep repeating

people-pleasing, boundary difficulties or fear of rejection

shame, self-criticism or low self-worth

emotional numbing, withdrawal or disconnection

coping behaviours that have become difficult or costly - addiction, self harm.

Relational and attachment-informed psychotherapy, exploring repeating patterns, protective responses and the person’s relationship with self and others.
Suitable for
Suitable for clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional distress or relational difficulties, particularly where patterns feel longstanding, repetitive or difficult to shift.
