Helping Children
Open Up Their
World Again

Support for anxiety, school worries and

emotional overwhelm.

Looking beyond behaviour to understand the child beneath.

Anxiety Can Look Like...

Constantly worrying

Sleep Difficulties

Perfectionism

Big Outbursts

School Avoidance

Withdrawal

Separation Worries

Anxiety doesn't always look like anxiety.

Sometimes it appears as avoidance, perfectionism, anger, physical complaints, or simply not seeming like themselves.

Often these behaviours are a child doing their best to cope with difficult feelings, fears, uncertainty or overwhelm.

Understanding what may be happening underneath is often the first step towards meaningful change.

How Counselling Can Help

When anxiety takes hold, a child's world can begin to shrink.

Things that once felt manageable can become overwhelming. School, friendships, sleeping alone, making mistakes, speaking up in class, or trying new things may start to feel difficult or impossible.

Counselling helps children and teenagers better understand what they are experiencing, develop confidence in themselves, and gradually build the skills needed to navigate the situations that anxiety has made difficult.

Over time, many young people begin to feel more capable, more resilient, and less controlled by anxiety, allowing them to participate more fully in school, friendships and everyday life.  â€‹

Anxiety and the Family

When a child is struggling with anxiety, the whole family feels the impact.

You may find yourself walking on eggshells. School mornings become harder. Reassurance becomes constant.  Activities are avoided. Everyone begins adapting around the anxiety.

Children grow in confidence when they experience both understanding and encouragement, knowing they are supported while discovering what they are capable of.

Finding the Balance

One of the hardest parts of parenting an anxious child is knowing when to provide comfort and when to gently encourage them forward.

Together, we explore ways to support your child with both understanding and encouragement, helping them feel safe enough to take small steps towards the things anxiety may have been asking them to avoid.

Because while anxiety can ask a child's world to become smaller, confidence grows when they discover they are capable of stepping back into life and allowing their world to become bigger again.

Looking Beyond Behaviour

What appears as anxiety, anger, withdrawal or school avoidance is often communicating something important.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms or behaviour, I seek to understand what may be happening beneath the surface, helping children feel seen, understood and supported.
