Adult Counselling & Psychotherapy

A grounded and compassionate space to explore life’s challenges with greater understanding, connection and care.

My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in presence, compassion and curiosity. I believe our experiences, whether they arise through trauma, anxiety, overwhelm, grief, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, shame, addiction, illness, life transitions or the quieter struggles we carry internally, hold important meaning that deserves to be listened to rather than judged or dismissed.

Together we slow down and explore what may sit beneath the surface with care and curiosity, creating space for greater awareness, emotional wellbeing and connection with yourself.

I draw from Process-Oriented Psychology, relational and trauma-informed approaches, somatic (body-based) awareness, and parts-based work. This may include exploring emotions, thoughts, body sensations, dreams, patterns, relational dynamics or the protective ways we have learned to adapt through life.

At the heart of this work is deep listening and attunement. Sometimes this means listening closely to what is spoken and reflecting it back with care and curiosity. At other times, it involves gently noticing what may sit beneath the words, the emotions beneath reactions, the body’s signals, relational patterns, silence, imagery, or the quieter ways our inner world communicates when something important is asking for attention or understanding.

Rather than trying to suppress or “fix” difficult experiences, this work invites a more compassionate relationship with the parts of ourselves that may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, reactive, ashamed, uncertain or difficult to understand.

Sessions are shaped collaboratively and guided by what feels most supportive and meaningful in the moment. Some sessions may involve reflection and conversation, while others may include deep listening, body awareness, mindfulness, emotional processing, dream exploration, creativity, or symbolic ways of exploring experiences that can be difficult to fully express in words.

This work is not about forcing change or becoming someone different. It is about creating the conditions for greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, connection and the possibility of relating to yourself and your experiences in a new way.

I feel honoured to walk alongside people through this process with compassion, honesty and care.

Need Support?

If you’re navigating loss, change, awakening, or a time of uncertainty, you don’t have to walk it alone. I offer one-on-one sessions in person in Torquay or online wherever you are. These are spaces to pause, listen, and explore what matters most with a steady, compassionate presence beside you..

About

My name is Nicole Dickmann

I’m a holistic counsellor and psychotherapist who believes real healing begins when we feel seen, supported, and able to slow down. I walk with people through the hard stuff so they can find clarity, confidence, and a steadier connection to themselves and those around them.

What Happens  in a Session?

Who Can it Help?

Each session begins with a conversation about what is happening for you and what you would like support with. We move gently from there, paying attention to your thoughts, emotions and physical responses. I take care to notice both what is expressed openly and what may be showing up quietly underneath, so you feel understood and supported.

This process is not about analysing or diagnosing. It is about allowing your natural process to unfold, helping you connect with different parts of yourself and discover new perspectives. Sessions may include deep listening, visualisation, movement, role play, parts work, or simply sitting in presence with what is. We always work at a pace and depth that feels safe and right for you.

This work may support people navigating anxiety, overwhelm, emotional pain, grief, shame, trauma, addiction, neurodivergence, relationship difficulties, life transitions, disconnection, burnout, emotional shutdown, or the protective patterns developed through stress and survival.

It may also support those who feel stuck in recurring patterns, struggle with self-worth, carry experiences that feel difficult to make sense of, or simply long for a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences.

For children and young people, this work can support emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, school stress, friendship difficulties, anxiety, shutdown, emotional outbursts, self-esteem struggles, and experiences that may be difficult to express directly in words.

Whether what you are carrying feels loud and disruptive or quiet and persistent, this work offers a compassionate and non-pathologising space to feel supported, understood and more connected with yourself beneath the struggle.
